Greetings all!
I am purchasing a 124 from another board member. Now I need to ship it here to the desert! After soliciting several online quotes, I spoke to the folks at DAS. They are telling me that open transport is not available for 124s because the track is too skinny. Okay, whatever. So how are you guys shipping your cars?
Much thanks!

I used Ship a car direct. It was very affordable and got from Minnesota to Michigan in 2 days.
THey don't have their own fleet of trucks, but the contracted company was reliable and had an open trailer setup. If the car you're buying is in great shape (including paint condition) I guess I'd spend the extra money on a closed transport, but in my case it was a "non-running" 2 -year sitter so point A to point B was the main consideration.
I'd recommend using them again though, especially for the price.

Great, I have requested a quote thru http://www.shipacardirect.com
I'll let you know what they say. I am still a little worried about the skinny track comment from DAS. Has this been an actual issue for anyone with loading on to open transporters?

I think the narrow track comment only applies to a more commercial style transporter, like dealer delivery trucks. In the case of shipacardirect, they'll likely just have a full sized flatbed truck that fits 1 or 2 full sized cars
