Mystery wire 22

Post by adrians »

Hi,

After diagnosing my problems with blowing fuse A http://www.fiatspider.com/f15/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=32565

I discovered another problem, an unattached purple wire, which looked like it belonged to the ignition coil setup, given its connector.

I traced the purple wire to a pigtail connector (see photo) to discovered it's a white cable with number 22 marked on it.
This white cable (22) comes out of a 2 wire loom, the other thick black wire goes to the (-) on the ignition coil.

So on my coil I have the following cables connected:

(+) COIL POST - Black wire leading to condenser/capacitor.
- Red wire from ignition control module.
- Pink wire from loom (Pink & Brown/White loom).

(--) COIL POST - Black wire from ignition control module.
- Thick Black wire from 2 wire loom ( Black Wire and white 22 wire).
- Brown/White Stripe wire from loom (Pink & Brown/White loom).

So where does this white wire with 22 marked on it go ???
I've checked an the wiring diagrams I have and can't see a reference to it anywhere.

adrians,
As I recall, I came across this wire as well and couldn't figure it out either. Doing a search on L-Jetronic ECU pinouts on Google showed pin 22 on the ECU as either not connected, or some sort of lambda monitor or test point. If your FI is working and your tach is working, I'd call it good and leave it unhooked.

Hi Kirk,

Yes the car runs and tacho works without it connected. My CO2 sensor is connected.

divace73 and I also looked at the ECU pin out diagrams and found a pin 22 that connected to nothing.

divace73 was thinking perhaps an additional sensor that wasn't used by the L-Jet system in the Fiat Spider configuration.

regards

Adrian
