Hello all! Tackling a lot of different things here, and this affects the idle...the combi relay sometimes behaves itself, sometimes not. Most of the time, at idle, it clicks and clicks and clicks away...simultaneously, (there is a charging gauge in my car) the needle on the gauge jumps. When it behaves, the car idles perfectly...when it has its fits, the car idles high, then back down, alternating like this...like its telling the ecu to squirt more fuel every few seconds...any ideas? Unless it's the relay itself that is going bad I'm not sure where to start...
The car is a '77 with F.I. 2L. conversion...
incessant clicking of the Combi-Relay???
Re: incessant clicking of the Combi-Relay???
OK, it's not the relay...AFM is out of adjustment and...one of the wires that sends fuel to the fuel pump has a short in it somewhere...it's a rats nest of splices...but we're getting somewhere. The dash is out, fixing the recap, so it's a little easier...
Re: incessant clicking of the Combi-Relay???
The P.O. glued the cover on...what a pain...Oh well...here goes. Meanwhile, finishing up the rear brakes! Dust shields sanded, primed and painted black. Polished the calipers, wire-wheeled the pad keepers and painted them gray. Really sets off the new wheels.
Now that it's clear where the F.I. system ties in to the wiring harness, and what everything does, I'm starting to appreciate the 2.0L F.I. conversion a little bit more. Never liked the newer Spiders...but the engine is peppy and the injection is smooth...
