Just curious; why not a 32/36 DFEV, which seems to be the default replacement?

depress the throttle pedal about 1/2 way, then pull on the cable. Once the engine starts gradually push the cable in

no, i know how to use the manual choke. i meant that i don't know how to make an electric choke carb work in place of a manual choke carb.

I figured that, but after a long day working in the heat and humidity I took the opportunity to be a smartass
Use any circuit that is switched by the ignition switch and use it for the electric choke. You can either splice into it or run it direct from the fuse box

Mine is a Weber Model 32ADFA, not sure I'd recomend it, but it was the same carb on my 72' & 76', no idea if either have been swapped already or not. But anyway, it is an automatic choke, not manual or electric as far as I know, maybe I don't know the difrence, but I think it works off a coiled spring that expands and contracts from tempatrue of radiator fluid that passes through it.

electric chokes work the same way, only use electric current to heat rather than water from the engine

I saw a guy on ebay that recommends the DGV or DGEV. Is this a viable option, especially for a '78 1800?
