tachometer is suddenly not correct

tachometer is suddenly not correct

I have been investigating the fuel pressure system (fuel pump; fuel pressure regulator; etc....). I put everything back together. Car started, but Tach stuck near zero. When I rev engine, it goes up, but only about 1/3-1/2 of what RPMs should be (based on sound of engine). Any ideas??????

inspect the neg side of the coil
when you do everything correct people arent sure youve done anything at all (futurama)
