New owner in Philly

Post by PhillySpider »

Hey Folks, we're actually in New Hope, outside Philly and picked up an 80 spider pininfarina (aren't they all pininfarina?) with 53K on it. My wife and I are the 3rd owner's, car is originally from FL, no rust to mention, newer paint. Test drive revealed the master cylinder was shot and various lights out, wipers shot. Agreed to $4,500 IF he got it all fixed. A week later I met him at a Fiat specialist and she was good to go with working brakes and wipers...YAY! The interior was scuffed, dirty, missing screws etc. I spent a whole day with a magic eraser (magic!) and my mishmoshed bucket o' screws and she's beautiful! My wife and I call her Bella...Got some parts on order from Mark already and plan on spending some quality time with her. 1 question...what ever happened to the Washington Crossing covered bridge tour??? I'm in, it's getting nice out, lets go!

Welcome aboard! You will find plenty of knowledgeable and friendly people here.

Post some pictures! They help a great deal when trying to help diagnose problems, inquiries, etc that you may have.

Here is a thread on how to post pictures directly to the forum:

This short instruction covers how to resize pictures so that they don’t get cut off at the right side:

And here is a link to a map of Spider owner’s locations. Many forum members have listed their locations.

Thanks. I couldn't seem to find a simple way to post a pic, but the link I pot in seems to be working from my phone. I'll give it another go later.

Testing photo upload through google photos. I installed a new shift boot and knob the other day. Beyond that I basically have gone over every inch of the interior and exterior with various cleaners, metal and leather polishes. She is a BEAUTY!

Thanks...she was really left out to dry by the previous owner. There were scuffs and dirt on everything, ratty carpet etc. I have new vent window latches coming from Mark, front seatbelt sleeves from ebay and hopefully a replacement bumper shock from Bobby on here. 3 wishes are centering the steering wheel (alignment is perfect, wheel is at 1 o'clock), the clock glass is all cloudy in the dash, I'd like to know if the glass can be removed and cleaned and get the heater running.

Beyond that I have a slow leak (a few drops a week) of a fluid I've yet to identify, and the windshield washer doesn't work. Finally, some new wheels are in Bella's future :)
