Hey all,
I got a weird electrical problem and was looking for some advice. My inline fuse that powers the double relay keeps burning up on me. It just started doing this today. To do a test on it I disconnected the fuel pump at the double relay and then with the ignition switch in the "on" position I manually opened up the AFM, and it still blew the fuse. So something on the load bearing side of the double relay is causing the fuse to burn up, besides the fuel pump and injectors. Does anyone have a clue what this might be or knows what other load bearing equipment runs off of the double relay? Thanks

Check the fuel pump wire under therear seat as it goes through the floor panel. That would be the most likely spot for it to tough ground.

If the fuse blows with the fuel pump disconnected at the double relay I would not suspect the pumps wiring under the rear seat. I would next disconnect the white wire terminal 88c of the double relay. It powers the Aux Air Regulator and is connected in parallel with the fuel pump internally in the dual relay. If the fuse still blows with 88d and 88c disconnected I would check the dual relay for a short between terminal 85 and 88c and 88d. Terminal 85 is the relay ground. The injectors are not powered through the inline fuse. They are powered from the brown wire that originates at the battery + terminal with the large green wire. This wire is unfused and unprotected throughout the car. The brown wire then goes to the dual relay terminal 88z. When the ignition switch is in the "run or start" position the control relay half of the dual relay engages and the power comes out of terminals 88b and 88e for the injectors.besides the fuel pump and injectors. Does anyone have a clue what this might be or knows what other load bearing equipment runs off of the double relay? Thanks
The inline FI fuse should be a 16 amp fuse are you using the correct value fuse??

Thanks for the help, turns out, I'm a dummy and decided it was a good idea to hook up the 2 wires that run to the connector on the air bypass hose together….and that's why they make fuses
