After making this site my favorite reading for the last two months, I finally picked up my first Fiat 2000 in York Pa. and drove it home to New Orleans, La. 17 hours straight. Using the site for info has been invaluable. So glad to have found this community of Fiat lovers.
My car is in pretty good shape, but it does need some things straightened out that this site will no doubt help me with. If there are any owners in the New Orleans area please give me a shout out.
Thanks All,
Bart

Welcome!
A 17 hr straight drive proves alot for a new to you 35 year old car. Hoping you had an awesome drive with no hiccups.

Well the first two hours were on the interstate with rain and no windshield wipers. Just a lot of RainX on the windshield which worked pretty well. The rest of the trip the car just purred along. I have to say I was nervous as hell, but had no problems. Kept it about 60-65 the whole way back. Now it's home and I'm having fun getting fixed up a little more.
Thanks for the reply!

+1 on Rain-X. Great stuff, I never intentionally drive in the rain, but when I do get caught, there is almost never any need to use the poor wipers to get home!

I used Rain X on my trip to FFO last year in the event my wipers gave up the ghost and needed another alternative. While it worked great for a while the rain became so torrential there would have been no way to proceed without wipers. I suddenly grasped the true meaning of reduced visibility. It turned into a roadtrip from hope the wipers work to pray that they keep working.. I think Jay may have a snapshot while in his car, it was almost surreal.
While a 12 hour roadtrip was a test of stamina for our cars, Bart i commend you for enduring 17 unpredicting hours. I just noticed you touched 5 states. I'm impressed. Sounds like your car is a keeper.

Thanks Arik,
I think I would just pull over in that kind of rain! lol
I am very glad I made it home with no problems. My leg was killing me from keeping the accelerator pressed, but that was the worst of it. Now I'm doing some suspension work and chasing down a loud clattering. The engine does seem to run smooth. Very happy I found this site and all the members on it. It is invaluable!!
