Shifter Question

I am a new Fiat owner and I was trying to remove the 7 " chrome extension. Any idea's on how to get it off ?

By the way I don't now if it makes a deifference but the car is a 1981 Fiat Spider 2000.

I wouldn't be asking the the manual I just bought isn't much help.

I used a cresent wrench, and hit up with a hammer. I think part of the process involves ending up on your butt! I installed the Michigan shorter shifter. Named after Mike Bouse...

you need a sharp pick or small screwdriver. There is a retainer at the bottom with mulitple fingers. Use the pick to pry the retainer down and work around the circle. Then the extension will pull off with little or no effort
