Potential Spider buyer this year

Post by AlexK »

Hi everyone, I thought I'd join the forum and start getting up to speed on the 124 since I'm in the market.

I have a 2012 Fiat 500 as a daily driver and a Moto Guzzi V7 classic but I'm thinking of adding some old Italian machinery to the garage!

Cool, good choice.
I think the fiat spider is the best of the older classics. The interior seems bigger, is faster, handles better and you can deal with the top with a grade 8 education, you don't need a engineering degree like the MG's or Triumphs..
You'll find there is no shortage of great info here and the vendors you see here offer replacement or enhance parts for the car.
So where do you hang the hat?

Joining the forum before owning the car is a fantastic idea. By reading the news posts once a day you'll be up to speed in no time at all. Plus you'll have a really good idea of what to look for when choosing your Spider.

Looking forward to seeing what you choose

I updated my location info, I'm in the western Chicago suburbs. The 124 has a lot going for it, Pininfarina bodywork, Lampredi designed engine, and the parts are still pretty affordable it seems.

Wow, though I'm across the country in SoCal, I also drive a 2012 Fiat 500
as my daily driver AND ride a Moto Guzzi V7 (2013 Stone)! The older Fiat spiders have always fascinated me and lately thought I'd research them as a possible "hobby" car. If the 124 or 2000 spiders can be made reliable daily drivers, it is a bonus to owning a truly classic Italian beauty. I look forward to learning as muchas possible in preparation for another Italian in my garage!

Welcome Alex,

Since you're already in the Fiat Family, you will love a Spider

My garage has a 2014 Abarth 500, '84 Pininfarina, and Toyota FJ Cruiser, which pretty much covers every use case!
1979 Spider 2000 (gone)
1984 Pininfarina Azzurra (for sale)
1982 Spider 2000 (here to stay)
