Made the mistake of not driving Pininfarina 1985.5 and now starts and runs sl rough at low revs but smoother at high. Take foot off and immediately cuts out. If disconnect air flow sensor lead it will idle slightly high revs and sl rough. Air flow sensor resistances OK and coolant sensor OK. HT leads working OK and new fuel injectors fitted.
I think this must be a sensor problem but which one? I am flummoxed and a bit of a Newby.
Can anyone help please?

How long since it last was started and ran well? Has it been sitting a long time between starts?

Re: Starts but will not idle after 2 month not driven
I reckon it was between 6 and 8 weeks.in dry clean garage in south of UK so no extremes.
It seems unlikely a sensor would just stop working given the pleasant environment. My money would be on clogged up or sticking parts but I can't really narrow it down. As I say the resistances to temp sensor and air flow meter are OK. Will check the auxiliary regulator. HT leads sending to plugs. New fuel injectors. If I disconnect the air flow meter lead it seems to idle better but at higher rpm and definitely not right!
I can't see any air leaks but will get some carb cleaner on way home tonight and do more on that
All help and suggestions gratefully received.
Nick.

if it happened after the injectors were replaced you probably have one injector pigtail not making contact. Listen to each injector with the car running, if you don't hear a noticeable "click" from each injector you've found the trouble

Many thanks.good trick! Used wife's stethoscope (she's a gp) so suspect there will be oily circle tattoos on chests tomorrow. Oh dear. Anyhow all injectors seem to be clicking away in regular fashion so they seem to work.
Thought I'd check everything over again and put the strobe light on the HT leads. 4th very intermittent!!! Swapped leads around and same so its distributor. Fortunately you recently sent me the Computronix kit which I'll fit next and hopefully fix problem.
Would this irregular miss fire cause the MAF to induce such chaos in the system and cutout the engine? Actually I can believe it would.
Many thanks for all support I would have been fleeced by local garage if not had your help.
I will be back! I will contribute to forum.good job
