Just bought my first 124! Learning a lot and hoping to restore it over the remainder of the summer/fall.

Re: New member - 76 CS1 Restoration
Hi there! Good luck with your efforts. I noticed someone must have cared for the car at some point. There also seems to be some "personal touches" along with it.. Is that a spoiler I see? Do you know if they've done any custom engine work?
Re: New member - 76 CS1 Restoration
They made a few modifications, but nothing very extensive. They had it resprayed red at some point (car was originally brown). They did a pretty decent job, and undercoated the bottom, however that didn't prevent rust from setting in underneath (see some of my threads). The side mirrors are the universal aftermarket chrome ones. Nothing in the engine bay appears to be altered, but I could tell they had attempted to fix a few minor issues themselves (found some temperature senders in the glovebox and the gauge wasn't working, turned out they bought the wrong part).Shadoobie wrote:Hi there! The spoiler was installed in such a way that it blocks the gas tank fill door, so you have to open the trunk and prop it up with a 2x4 to fill her up as the support rod is broken off The spoiler doesn't look that bad but I may remove it at some point to remedy that issue. I'm personally not a big fan of that look on these cars.
