A young boy of 54 years (only !) and a lot passion for sport's cars. I have the pleasure to drive daily a New XKR and have since a few months a lot of fun to set up and drive a 1978 US Fiat 124 Spider. The Spider is the best way to move in a country with a huge driving limitations like France ...
I already change some parts (wheels bearings/brakes/exhaust etc) and start driving the most exciting car of the universe
For it's second Chrismas i'll offer to this wonderfull italian car, a complete paint job after pulling the engine and all the US gadgets like the big bumpers and all the heath Robinson contraption (EGR like system etc)
I ask last year a mechanic to change the differential, and he keep the car more than 8 month only for this purpose (lack of parts ... and knowledge !). I I have a basic knowledge, so i decided to start doing myself what it is possible to do with some help (thanks to FiatSpiderDOTcom community).
Thanks for your help

Welcome aboard TwinFast. I think you will find working on your '78 quite challenging.

Merci cousin pour ton accueil I agree that this website is a gold mine. I never see elswhere the same huge knowledge database.
Yes Ralph the 1978 spider is the most challenging spider made by Fiat. When I get it, i only have to fix a differential problem and all the rest will be a child game. No ! I understand quickly that the 1978 Fiat spider is a special animal : A zoo curiosity
After one year a wanted to sell it and buy another easier base to start a good restoration. I found a self garage that give me the opportunity to fix things and learn mechanics. As i like the challenge and wanted to build my own fiat from this base e.g. from a scratch, I keep it and start a complete restoration !
