Since the spider isn't running quite yet, and I was look into the intake manifold and it wasn't very clean. I was wondering if I should remove it and clean it ?
If so, it doesn't look that involved in removing the top part, what about the bottom. This is my first Fiat but not to rebuilding or reworking cars. I have rebuilt a MG ( can't recall what year ), '68 Firebird and a '69 Nova. So being mechanically inclined isn't the issue. I am wondering from all the Fiat experts, if it is really something needs to be done or could I spray some cleaner into the intake when I get back up and running in a couple of weeks.
BTW - the Spider is a 1981 Spider F.I.
I have a couple of more questions, but I am first going to try and do some research and not sound much like an idiot.

It's actually pretty simple to remove. Here's my recommendation: remove the top part (plenum), remove the fuel manifold and injectors, replace all of the rubber fuel hose, send the injectors out to be cleaned/checked (http://www.witchhunter.com), remove and clean out your intake manifold (lower) then throw it all back together. It should run like a champ, and you will no longer have to worry about one of your 27 year old fuel hoses cracking/breaking and catching your engine on fire. Make sure you buy new gaskets for the intake manifold and plenum, and lower seals for your fuel injectors. I would also replace the air filter and fuel filter while you're at it. You should be able to complete the whole project for a around $125 or so. One final piece of advice is to remember you are working with all aluminum components. Be very careful to torque everything to proper specs. It is very easy to strip out your threads by over tightening.

I might add; be sure to reattach the ground wires on the plenum. Those are the grounds for the FI system and the car won't start if they are not attached

Thanks. I am going to the gaskets today as I have basically the whole F.I. system apart. I will insure that all grounds are re-attached. I am actually going to repair some wiring today, drain the fuel tank, and replace the fuel filter.
Still have a ways to go to get her back on the road though. Hopefully in the next couple of weeks. Stll have a braking issue I will have to resolve before putting her back on the road.
