On the way home from dropping my son at the airport ( he is now in Bologna for a year) Juniors water pump seized. I've never replaced one on my 73. I read the posts in the forum, if anyone of you 82ers has done it and would be so kind, I could really use your help.
Thanks.

Re: 82 Water pump replacement.
I did mine in February, but it was done in conjunction with a bunch of other stuff -- while you're in there syndrom. It is not difficult at all. You have to disconnect the metal water line that goes into the water pump. It runs under the exhaust manifold and bolts onto the water pump. You also have to remove the water pump pulley as new pumps come without the pulley. I also removed the crankshaft pulley and both the plastic and metal timing belt covers to gain access to all of the water pump bolts. But there are others who have taken the timinig belt covers off without removing the crankshaft pulley (the pulley wasn't diffcult to remove in my case). Just make sure you get a new gasket for the pump as well as the metal waterline. You obviously have to drain the coolant before beginning and refill and bleed the system when you are finished. You ought to be abe to complete in an afternoon.

Re: 82 Water pump replacement.
i'd respond, but I don't own an '82...have no desire to own an '82, and don't think i have room for an '82 in the stable.
Now, if someone wanted to GIVE me an '82, i certainly would take it...and as soon as the paperwork was done, give it to my daughter - providing she could come up with a fuel injection eggspert; which means she'd have to move to California - - - cuz we all know where the latest resident eggspert of Fiat Fuel Injection lives (in the land of curtained garages).
But, since only '82ers were requested to repond to this request of advice, i will keep quiet.

Re: 82 Water pump replacement.
I replaced the water pump over the week end. All went well, Junior is doing just fine. I want to thank all who responded for their help, even if they aren't fortunate enough to own an 82.
