Hello from Hood River...1974 124 Sedan - Euro import

Post by gtmedley »

Howdy, all...

In January I imported a very nice '74 124 Sedan special, with the 1400 OHV motor. Car is in excellent shape, with a nice respray and an interior that looks new.

I have been giving the car a much-needed mechanical TLC -- new fluids, new front rotors and wheel bearings, new rear control arms, fixing countless electrical gremlins, including a "broken" printed circuit board on the instrument cluster. Car also came with Cromodora CD-5 wheels.

It runs fine, after a valve adjustment, Lubro-Moly engine flush and oil change. Hums right along. Speedo is metric, so that 100km mark is 62 mph.

With the help of board honcho Mark Allison, I've been putting together a 1592 twin cam (which I purchased from Allison in "kit" form).

The beauty of these cars is their simplicity and ease of working on them. At some point, would like to upgrade to a 5-speed (not sure which one). The TC should be going in by mid-summer.

I am in Hood River, Oregon, a hour east of Portland on the Columbia River. Not sure how smart a decision this purchase was, but it sure is a hoot so far.

(Looks like there is no way to upload image from my computer. oh well. The car is red.)

[Note: In the past few months, there have been numerous complaints regarding the performance of Photobucket.]

And here is a link to a map of Spider owner’s locations. Many forum members have listed their locations.

You can't, as far as I am aware. I suppose you could go in and edit and just blank out the entry, but it doesn't take it down from the Forum.
