Just picked up a not so new to me 1979 Fiat 2000. Red with tan interior, tan top, 5 speed, factory steel wheels, A/C and 55K miles.
I sold this car 10 years ago to a young man that followed me home with a plea to sell him my car. He said he always wanted a Fiat 124 and mine would be the perfect car for him. Being the softhearted guy I am, I said sure, if what he offered was reasonable. It was, and he became the proud owner of a Fiat.
Rewind 38 years ago. I worked as a salesman at Graffeo's Imported Cars, in Roebuck, Alabama and this same car was in the showroom just a few feet from my office. This car was sold to a corporation and that being the case, was handled by the manager instead of a salesman, since there was only paperwork involved.
When I bought the car in 2005, it was parked on the side of the road and the original sales agreement was in the glove box with the signature of the sales manager and the name of the corporation as I remembered. Bingo, I knew this car.
Fast forward to this month, the young man I sold the car to 10 years ago decided he had no use for the car and put it on CR, not thinking I would be interested in buying it back. I just happened to look at CR one day and put in all the usual MG, FIAT, Triumph and came across the ad.
I called him and he recognized my voice and told me I could come have a look. The car was just as it was 10 years before, but had some new parts. We test drove it and the left front wheel locked up hard. We barely made it home. The next day I returned with the check and a new brake hose, fixed it and drove home.
(The brakes are not right. I'm going to post a question regarding them.)

What is CR?
Re: Third time! New owner
Thanks Pete.
Nelson, the A/C did not work 10 years ago and doesn't work now. BTW, when they were new, the A/C worked pretty good with the smaller rotary compressor. The A/C we sold on British cars had the York piston compressors and was next to nothing.
CR? That's the way my spellcheck spells CL. CraigsList
