Door handle rattle

Post by dinghyguy »

Hi all,

I searched but did not find an answer to door handle rattles. The interior handle is loose and can rattle up and down a bit. Interestingly it rings like little christmas bells. Has anyone else noticed throttle? If so what did they do about it?
As always thanks

Do both the inside and outside handles operate the door? How about the key lock? The linkage for this mechanism, similar to the sliding-capture thingy on the throttle linkage, is often broken and hangs down, rattles are the result.

The door cards are easily removable with these types of tools: https://www.harborfreight.com/4-piece-w ... 38386.html. Tip: when you replace the window winder, orient it at noon with the window down, so you don't kick or snag it getting in and out of the car.

Window squeaks gone, door rattle gone, everything works smoothly except pass door lock is unknown key.
A few hours of fiddling, tightening loose bits, lubrication and mechanisms are all good. Too bad door cards are trash and blue and have speaker hole in them (with crappy speakers) so now have to get some fiberboard and make new door card. Not sure if I want to try and save the blue vinyl (keep speakers) or get new vinyl.

Don't want to spring for new door cards until I win lotto.

Any suggestions on where I might find some blue vinyl that will match armrests and seats?

Thanks

Talk to an upholstery or boat repair shop. They'll have more options available than your neighborhood fabric store.

Look for marine vinyl, as it's made to withstand the elements.

thanks, but the color matching is the issue, so far I have not found quite the right light blue......a product name and color number would be really helpful.
