timing belt cover paint

Any great ideas on paint for the plastic timing belt cover. scrubbed it but would like it to be nicer

I prepped it and painted it with engine enamel. I placed it in the oven at low temp for a while but i doubt that part was really necessary.

Painted one from a 79 silver which came out looking nice. Clean really well, scuff with scotchbrite pad or high grit sandpaper, clean with a plastic cleaner (I used Prep-All spray made by Klean-Strip) then sprayed with a can of Triclean (vinly-plastic prep) to make sure the paint wouldn't flake off. Finish in Duplicolor high temp silver. Slightly overkill, but produces a great end product!

I painted mine with Rustoleum black truck bed liner (spray can available at Lowe's home supply stores).
It has a very tough finish that won't peel or flake, and I like the textured look of the Rustoleum product -- it is not a real coarse texture like some bed liner products, but rather a mildly-textured finish.

Four years of yellow Duplicolor enamel on mine and there hasn't been any flaking, cracking, shrinking, peeling. I gave it a few good washes beforehand and scuffed it with sandpaper before painting.

Will be nice to have the motor all back together and going

I like to prep plastics and rubber based materials with TSP it is great for removing oils and grease from the materials surface. Washing multiple times with clean fresh mixture works great.
