Crankshaft pulley bolt

So I am presuming that the bolt that secures the crankshaft pulley to the shaft is a left hand thread. The reason I presume this is I broke the bolt off trying to remove it . Is it a major job to get the bolt removed? Sounds like a job for a shop in which case I may as well have them rebuild the engine.

Its a right hand thread. I am not sure if anyone can get that out, might be better with a replacement crankshaft? probably have to weld it equals a lot of heat/distortion

how did you manage to break that bolt??

I was undoing it to get the pulley off. Had an exhaust section over the socket to get sone leverage. It just broke.

Sure was a surprise I was convinced it was left hand afterwards.

Bought an impact gun last week then realised it was too small need the next size up....back to harbor freight!

It is the smaller one, 22mm I think. Engine is a 1980 FI.

My '81 FI 2000 had a 38 mm (1/2") bolt. It's best to remove the radiator so you can more easily get to it.

When I tried to get it I was obliged to destroy it (drill in several points)...... impossible to unscrew it even with 2 meters extension on the 38 mm key !
