rear brake compensator

Post by geospider »

This particular subject seams to be quite the PITA.
lot of thoughts.
should have been able to bleed all brakes, get new wheels and tires on (with all new suspension and steering btw)
but could get nothing out of rear when trying to bleed. Yes I have it up on jack stands under axle.
using vacuum: nothing.
thinking the compensator is plugged: all rubber lines replaced, calipers rebuilt.
this thing is in a crappy place btw. looks like it is held by metal housing. 4 lines going in/out of it.

lets just say; there are easier parts to get to. looks like it rivals the starter. OK I know that is saying a lot.

any hints.

geo
btw: from earlier post: the more i learned about the diffy, the cooler that little piece of engineering is.

ok, maybe 2 brake lines and the other are bolts holding it.
btwe: those with the Brooklands books manual: there is NOTHING on this in there.

Sure, that can be plugged with trash from rusting lines. It is more likely the vacuum bleeder isn't working. I have never had luck using a vacuum bleeder on a Fiat. Pedal bleed or gravity bleed the system. You may need to crack the lines on the compensator to speed up the process.

+1, gravity bleed works really well, just a bit slow, but is controllable and can be cleaner.
