Just curious what type of wood is the dashboard made of. Also, is there a treatment needed to protect it.

Plastic, just any old cleaning fluid will work.

It's zebrano wood in the older models. With a clear varnish coating.

A little car wax is fine for the late model Spider dash "wood".
