I've seen in pictures of other people's cars that they have a tube that runs from near the fan to the top of a plate that I believe covers the exhaust manifold.
My car has the cover, with the fitting sticking up out of it, but not the elbow and hose.
Can anyone tell me what that part is called?

That tube is used to route hot air to the carburetor in colder months. Generally it is routed directly across the two cam covers (valve covers), not around the front the of the engine (unless that's an older, smaller version of our engine). It's 2" (50 mm) in diameter. You should be able to block it off in warm weather by rotating the air cleaner cover.
