Transmission rebuild

Post by Obdulio39 »

 so i rebuilt my trans. All synchros and 2d gear. 3d used to grind (that caused the rebuild). Now the tranny seems tight and 3d gear wont downshift from 4th. Any ideas?

Yes. 3d gear was ok. But the synchro was bad. 2d gear was bad but the synchro good. Now all gears work fine but i decided to change the oil from gl-4 (80-90) to gl-1 (as recommended) and after 60 miles of driving the oil came out with a lot of glitter (wear from synchros). Idk if the lucas oil i got was bad but i can only hope the synchros still good.

I'd say give it a little time. A freshly rebuilt transmission can be a bit tight.
Also, how high are your RPMs when you're downshifting. These transmission aren't known for liking a high rev down shift.
