Cooling system feed

Hello Spider fans

Following an engine re-build, I think I may have my heater feed and return pipes round the wrong way.

Does anyone know... should my heater be fed from the pipe that comes out of the top of the cylinder head or the one that comes from the back of the water pump?

On a similar note, Im not convinced my thermostat is fitted the right way round, anyone have a pic showing the correct way?

As for the thermostat, the port that goes to the lower radiator hose should be closed when cold

Note to home mechanics: Take plenty of pictures (and caption them) during the restoration! (I too am guilty)
