I was guessing he meant the ignition switch. I'm not sure electricity comes out of the solenoid.

Pete, now that I re-read the posts and think about it, you might be right. Not sure why the coil would go dead though, especially if it was replaced fairly recently.

I think we'll have to wait for more detail from the OP.

It looks like you have an answer for the wiring diagram question, but on the question above: Does he mean the starter motor? Or the solenoid for the starter motor (engages the starter motor when you turn the key), or the ignition switch?
Not the starter motor (which was changed a few months ago actually) but just the ignition switch:

I ordered the part above, so he can then investigate the unstable idle issue this week....

Thanks for the clarification, and yes, ignition switches do fail (or act erratically) from time to time. Let us know what your mechanic uncovers.

So I've yet to have found a super definitive answer about that time my tachometer was dancing around like a lunatic... but car is up and running again .

They've replaced the ignition switch and, in regard to the unstable idle, he mentioned that there was some "gunk" in the fuel line that they flushed out somehow, but other wise it seems to be in tip top shape.

We'll see if the problem comes back. If it does, he mentioned that it may be a bad fuel pressure regulator (unless that is the same thing as the Air Pressure Meter that I replaced) or it could be something else that is causing the problem.

We'll see if it comes back !
