Carb question: it's leaking, help

My 79 California 28/32 ADHA carburetor seems to be leaking. I've been smelling gas occasionally, especially after come to a stop after speed. I had a few carb idle issues (think I need to replace the cutoff solenoid) I've been working on so cleaned it with carb cleaner. Now I see a definite leaking at the accelerating pump actuating lever after I shut down.

I'm never rebuilt a carb before, so I'd like to know if that is my next step? Also, I might like to wait till the rainy season. Is there any temp fix for this?

Don't want to drive a flame thrower.

i've had the same problem with my weber idf's , it was the accelerator pump diafragm , they'r easy to replace

That makes sense...Now I wonder....Is the accelerator pump diaphragm something that's only available online (I see one at IAP) or do parts houses carry them.

I doubt you'll find a diaphragm at a parts store, but you could try a specialty shop that sells VW parts. EMPI is making a clone of the Weber carb, so a retailer selling VW perf stuff may have one in stock

I ordered repair kit from IAP whole kit was only $38. The diaphragm, which was to be had at Vick's was $15.

Just my 2cents, if the car runs well I would JUST replace the diaphram. Even though you have the whole carb kit, no need to go inside if you don't have too, you may end up creating more issues.
But either way, let us know how it turn out!

Well I might not kick myself being a one legged man , but your right the prices are much better ... and being new to Fiats myself, I'm real glad to know about another parts place. I missed this one until now.

So just to follow up. received the kit, took out and installed diaphragm and no more leak.

Smoother acceleration too I think.

Only I have a problem with idle that I'm going to post in another topic.
