32 ADFA rebuild

Post by apexwc »

Does anyone know of a good manual or site that has detailed instructions on how to rebuild/tune a Weber 32 ADFA? I have the Haynes and the factory manual reprint. The Haynes doesn't cover the ADFA at all. The factory manual seems pretty good but doesn't cover rebuilding. The instructions with the kit are not of much use, either. The only other carb I've ever rebuilt was a Carter on a '62 Falcon and I pretty much just had to pick a part from the kit then find it on the carb and replace it until I used all the parts that I could find a match for. I don't want to miss something or forget to remove something before cleaning/soaking. The Carter was a pretty simple carb, too.

Also, what is the difference between a 49 state ADFA and a California ADFA? The air pump had already been removed so I removed the hoses, manifold, and the rest of the air pump stuff along with the EGR and plugged all the holes. Would I be better off replacing the carb or is rebuilding this one still a viable option? At cold idle their is a steady drip of gas in the primary barrel and after driving the car for a while and letting it warm up good the secondary looks flooded and the primary looks dry. Would a sticking float cause these problems? Sorry to ramble but I keep thinking of things as I type. My wife says I have ADD

I have a Fiat 32 ADFA workbook that was a supplement to the Factory manual. Its about 22 pages and covers how the carb works, all the parts, how to rebuild, and what settings and specs things need to be set at. Its in Adobe PDF format.

Send me your e-mail and I'll send you the PDF workbook. matt.scarton@gmail.com

The 32 ADFA is a good carb and can be rebuilt fairly easily. I'm not sure what the differences are between the Federal and California versions.
