I recently put on a new intake manifold and 32/36 Weber carburetor. I had some issues where when I give it throttle it’ll sputter and then it’ll jump and go. I messed with the timing and got it a little bit better, but it’s especially noticeable when I’m going a little too slow for a higher gear, and then when I give it gas it sputters pretty bad.
Any ideas? I checked vacuum lines they all seem good.

If it only happens when you get on the gas, it sounds like the accelerator pump.

It’s a brand new carb off of vickauto I don’t see why it would be an accelerator pump

I would call Vicks. They would know more. They've been very helpful when I had to buy suspension parts.

I encountered the same issues when I installed a new manifold…I resolved them by making sure I had the correct height of the Carburator as before—when exchanging the manifolds, the new one will require a spacing adapter of at least an 1” in thickness. Which will make the accelerator rod linkage work as intended. Of course, making sure that the Carburator was properly set and making sure there were no vacuum leaks whatsoever. Especially in the new spacing adapter. And adjusting the timing by loosening the distributor and moving it accordingly to get a smooth running engine. (Of course, at some point—sooner rather than later—the timing has to be adjusted properly with a stroboscopic light gun.)

An important point: Is it an authentic Weber, or an aftermarket copy? Occasionally, some knockoff carbs suffered with issues of blocked passageways, goofy accelerator check valves, etc. Very easy to check. With the engine off, remove the air cleaner so you can peer into the primary barrel with a flashlight. I am currently dealing with the same issue. I have hypothesized that my car is running way to rich, I live at 6000 ft., and my Carter fuel pump's pressure is to high for the carb. My solutions will be to put an inline fuel pressure regulator and gauge in it and re-jet the carb.
Your carb may be running to rich, even at sea level I had to lean my carb out a little.
The stock 32/36 carb jet sizes are:
Jet Primary Secondary
Idle 60 50
Main 137 140
Air Corrector 165 160
When I lived at sea level I went down 2 sizes on the idle (p50 s47.5) and down one size on the mains (p135 s137) and up one size on the air correctors (p170 s165) and that helped a lot.

This is not exactly on topic, but this is a new thread about the Weber. When I removed ours, there were two paper gaskets sandwiching a base plate/spacer that also had some paper on both sides. Can I reused these, or should I be getting new? All 3 items? Where do I get these?
