Hi, I’m sure this question has been asked here previously but I am new to owning my 1978 Fiat 124 Spider. The steering seems “ sloppy”. I know it isn’t a new car but I have had 2 1979 Chevy z28 and didn’t have an issue with the steering. The wheel turns freely to the left and right quite a bit until the car actually moves in the direction intended, Is there an adjustment that can be done to correct this or at least make not so noticeable. I feel like I am all over the road. Thank you.

You probably need to adjust the steering box. there is a jam nut and adjusting nut on the top of it. You should also check that it has enough oil in it. This thread covers the topic well:
