the thing that bugs me about the top is that it's a cnvas top, not cheap vinyl. so I hate to replace it with something not as nice when otherwise the top's in good shape!mdrburchette wrote:The car's not in bad shape but I'd definitely pull the back seat and carpets out and dry it out. I suppose you'll have to pull the top off to have another rear window sewn in, so I'd just replace it. It's a keeper!
Have Faith!
Have faith Danno! My '72 is in similar shape (if not worse). I have the interior and the engine cavity gutted, ready for blast. It's amazing if you watch Ebay what you can find. My latest find was original upholstry for the two front seats, in mint condition for $30. You can't even buy covers for that, much less the original! Now, if I could only find the back seat in black, I'd be good to go! LOL
not bad at all. Best suggestion I can give ANY spider (or miata, their battery is in the trunk too) owner is to replace the non-sealed battery with something sealed. Either the well known Optima or the lessor known (and lighter) Hawker Odyessy batteries. One of the big problems is that a non-sealed battery outgasses when charged and will put both nasty sulfer fumes AND some acid into the trunk.
Overall, I think she is a keeper. And yes, later 2000 model spider did come with two tone interiors. A little more upscale and not so somber as the all black interiors of the earlier cars.
