Snow at LD's In Oregon

Post by GOPAPA »

We did have quite a snow storm around here ,,and I measured around 20 inches and more like 24inches where it had wind drifts..
I shoveled off 3 out buildings twice to be safe and not sorry as our snow here gets very wet and heavy ..Mighty happy to of had my strong son home for Christmas to give me a helping hand with the shovels.. It's been a number of years since we had snow this deep.
It melted off to about 5 inches in most places around here , but last night we got another 4 inches to replace some of what we lost.. It is sunny out and already started to melt.. The problem now is that it has been raining and the rain melts the snow fast .. that makes flooding and my neighbors pasture is all covered with water and a house down the road is surrounded like its in a middle of a lake .. they are next to Beaver Creek is the reason why..
Now , mind you I am up in the hills ,,so what I see is nothing to what is going on in the low lands and whats to come .. as a rant I must say :: the weather people said a few days ago that we would not have any major flooding as this snow will melt slow and the rivers and streams will be able to keep the run off within it's banks .. watch the news and you will see what they missed in their predictions..

Here is a few pictures of the snow at my place and out on the country road .. These Pictures were acually taken the day before we got another 6 inches of snow and now I wished i had taken some more pictures but Christmas was upon us and we just stayed in by the heat of my built in wood stove ..

The power went out Christmas eve and we had a Roast in the oven at the time .. So we took the roast to the back deck and put it on the Bar-B-Q and finished cooking it and ,,,now we all believe we have come up with something ,,tasted real good ..We cooked and ate and opened presents by candle light and kerosene lamps and had the neatest Christmas any one could of ever drempt up..

I will now try and psot the pictures and forget and hit the back button as I now know that one loses everything by doing so.. LOL

One picture is of me hitting the fruit trees with a board held in one hand and a double jack in the other. I did this twice also as the snow in other trees like my fir and alder some cedars either pulled them over or broke many limbs and tops out of them ,,snow was heavy.. I have my fire wood already on the ground this year ..

OH ! one more thing ,,haha before you comment I want to say ,,I already know the wife and pooch is much prettier than me .. lol

You are welcome and if you look at the 6th picture down you can see that under that leanto (under a tarp) is the parts car that I have to take the motor out of and send to Dave ,,need this snow out of my way first so i can relocate the car to do so...Wife is inreal good shape and back to slapping me around ,,I need it though,, LOL
I have tons of stuff to do this year so her being better will sure help ..like putting a new roof on the building to the left of the parts car (mother-in-law house ,,or my dog house ) LOL again Ld

Ps .I will lend you our white Christmas to you for next year ..OK ?
