I imagine that someone here has rebuilt their trans and I have a question on that. This is a pic of the fifth gear and a close up of that gear. The smaller gear has the points rounded over, and am not sure if that is the way it is suppose to be or that they should be pointed and they are just worn down.
Any help is appreciated.
transmission questions
Re: transmission questions
Never had my Fiat trans apart, but gears are not supposed to be pointed, if they it is because they are worn out. That gear looks good to me!
Hopefully more expert minds will chip in here.

Re: transmission questions
Pope, I don't know if they were made that way but yours look normal. That is the reverse gear, no syncro, just gear tooth to gear tooth. No teeth missing or chipped. Your good to go for another 300k miles.

Re: transmission questions
Thanks Ted, the fifth gear looks great, I was worried of the reverse gear and the rounding of the teeth. But your right, since you dont shift into reverse until the vehicle is stopped, no need for a syncro. Now that fifth/reverse fork is another matter.
I tried to pressure wash the case at a car wash, didnt work so good. Took the trans case to a transmission shop and they put it in their cleaning machine and baked it, for only $25. Really looks good now.
