1608cc Spark timing

Hi again,

Does anyone know what is the manufacturer's recommendation concerning the spark timing?
The motor is a 1608cc.
It also has dual 40 IDF carbs. (Not really sure if it makes any difference).

I have heard it should be 0' BTDC (idling). Is it so?
Based on your experience, do you suggest any other setting for peformance, fuel economy etc?

According to the Fiat factory service manual 5 btdc for initial static advance. I'm running one of mine at 10 degrees and another higher at around 20. Both with dual Webers and electronic ignition. I do run 93 octane in both and don't have any pinging.

The tag in the engine compartment of my '72 confirms your 0 deg assumption. However, I'm running 15 due to my late model electronic dizzy installed on my otherwise fairly stock 1608.

They just can't make up their mind. In my owner's manual it says 10 btdc.

it was pretty common for Fiat to specify 0 btdc on Calif cars, all for emission reasons
