Hi to Everyone

Post by NetePete »

Hi Guys,
I just got my first Spider on Jan 30th and have been putting in many hours getting her to run well enough to become my new daily driver. I always wanted a convertible and now living in San Diego it's time.
I've gone though the forum checking for answers but haven't found them yet. So I'm going to thow it to you guys.
1) The secondaries on my 34 ADF don't open very much. Shouldn't they be verticle at WOT. There does not appear to be anything wrong with the linkage or the carb itself.
2) Below the carb on the manifold are three vacume ports.
Two are the same with one capped off and the other plumbed to the brake booster. The third one has a 90 degree turn and a calibrated small hole in it and is also capped off. What was hooked up to these two capped off ports?
Thanks for your help! Hope to meet a few of you guys at some of the local events. Anyone going to the Goodguys show at Del Mar in April.
All the Best! Pete

Welcome Pete!

The only way to answer your question is to know what year your car is.

The 34ADF is a fantastic carb, and is aftermarket. The ports you mentioned that are closed off were all associated with the smog system.

I hope for your sake in San Diego, that your car is 1975 or older.

lol..

Welcome to the forum Pete. I can't help you with the carb question, mine is FI. But your questions will be answered by very knowledgeable members as soon as they see your post.
Hope to meet you at upcoming Fiat events.

Hello Pete, and welcome.

I'll take a shot at one of your questions: the vacuum port with the tiny orifice is probably the suction line to the evaporative canister.

Good luck with the car, and let us know how you're progressing.

Sorry I forgot to mention that the car is a 1970. And thanks for the concern about Ca smog rules. I'll start checking into the evap canister hookup and would also like to correctly vent the crankcase. All the Best! Pete

Pete
we have a run in So Cal on March 14th, check the events section. It's starting in Murrietta, so it's not too far from you. Hope you can make it
