A small sample of the destruction caused by the devestating bushfires that occurred in our region on Feb 7th 2009 (Black Saturday). Many fires are still burning, control lines have been established, but we are all on high alert for tomorrow which is forecast to be another extremely high fire danger day with high temperatures and hot, dry winds.

That whole ordeal is so incredibly sad, Curly. I pray the fires don't start back up and no more lives will be lost.

I can't get the picture to show up but here's a link to the Shell gas station that's still in Winston-Salem:

one of my favorite spots is the Gilmore Car Museum north of Kalamazoo. This building is there, and you can walk inside the office, and see a 30's gas station just as it was...adding machine, racks of snax, oil cans, etc..

I do ,,and as a kid I "pumped" gas for old Pete In Taylorville Oregon an also put oil in cars with them long snout baby bottle looking oil jars .. Gas prices were about 19 -21 Cents a galon when I was a kid of about 12 ,,at the time of me working for ol Pete ,,he had a small grocery store alos.. wish I had pcitures .. LD

I won't ruin your question and tell ,,will see how may others remember thes gas pumps and how they worked..

This is Me and ol Pete ,cant remember which is which ? LOL

That doesn't look like a Spider from the rear! I love the airplane gas station! We are on the mother road here and still have a few sights left such as..

The Blue Whale at the local swimming hole.
Image
1940's blue dome service station. It claimed to be the first one open 24 hours, hot water and a car wash, as it appeared back in the day.

as it is now, next to an Irish pub! ^_^
1978 Spyder 1800 make that 2L! Finally making real progress!

If you are referring to the green spider at the Fotomat it's an 850. Probably late 60's early 70's model.
Always thought one would be neat. Way under powered though with that 850 or was it 848 cc engine.
