Upholstery in Leather or Vinyl?

Post by SPIDERDEBI »

Thinking of re-upholstering seats in both of my Spiders. I want to go with real leather upholstery and wondering if anyone has done this as opposed to vinyl. Can't make up my mind. Also want to do lower door panels in same material. Any thoughts?
Thanks in advance for your replys.
Don't know if I posted this link right but I created a PhotoSite of my restoration progress. The '76 is 95% complete but do not have new photos since done.... Just starting on the '82.

recovering in leather is common, just some added expense. The later Spiders came with leather front seats

You asked for thoughts......

A quality vinyl will last for years, and look great. Saves lots of money for mechanical parts that routinely fail in an antique machine.

I agree that vinyl is the way to go. In most cases it's almost impossible to tell the difference once it's installed and the cost savings is usually considerable.
