New From Ontario Canada

Post by aliandi »

Hello,

David here from Oakville Ontario which is just outside of Toronto. I've been lurking around on the site for a while now picking up tips but haven't formally said hello. After a long time looking around I purchased my 1981 Fiat Spider 2000 last August in Myrtle Beach South Carolina from a fellow who was selling it for his father, the original owner. Despite being warned by almost everyone not to attempt the drive back home (950 miles) in a 27 year old car I did so anyway without incident. (Well, okay it did burn 2 quarts of oil). I drove the car throughout the Fall and packed it away in November. Can't wait until spring! I'm looking forward to participating on the site. I had trouble registering on to Photobucket (couldn't in fact) but did manage to put some pictures of my Spider onto Image Shack. Here's the link.

welcome, that's a gorgeous car. It must be torture to have to put 'em away for months at a time

Wow, that is a great looking car! I'm envious.

I'm also an '81 owner, this one in Victoria, BC. Like you, I'm looking forward to spring and the fun of driving it, and that's not long off out here - hopefully just a few weeks. The daffodils are coming out now.

Chris,

As I look out my window right now it is -12 with a forecast low of -16 tonight. It will be a while before I can take the car out on the road. The only sign of Spring in Toronto right now is the "Falling Leafs". Your "Mats" comment makes me think that you will know what I am referring to! (Hockey for all of you folks south of the 49th Parallel.)

Hello, and welcome to the forum aliandi. Very intrepid of you to pick up the car and drove it 950 miles home. I drove mine home too, but it was only about 120 miles. I remember feeling tense the whole way! Very cool that you got a car from the original owner, and a great looking one it is.
