Howdy from NC

Post by mybigwarwagon »

I just picked up my first Fiat. I would tell you what I paid but you would all storm my house and burn it down in jealousy. Anyhow. I had a guy call me to pick up a car for scrap and asked what I would give him. I gave him a price and he agreed. When I got there I was dumbfounded when I saw what it was. He said he was moving due to his job and had to be out of the house the next day and the car had to go.
It is a downright adorable 72 Fiat 850 Sport. It came with a new top and good seats that need to be installed. I drained the old coffee colored gas yesterday and filled it with fresh, tossed in my Optima yellow top and it fired right up. It needs to be tuned up and is in desperate need of a bath and a wax but it is a nice little car.
I haven’t decided if I am going to keep it or sell it yet. Since I am 6’3” and 275 pounds it doesn’t exactly fit me. But for now it is fun to play with.
Here are some pice of the day I brought it home. I was in a hurry to get it covered up because it was threatening to rain and the car has no top.

I am in the big metropolis of Crouse, NC. I can sneeze on this side of town and the guy on the other side hands me a kleenex. I was shocked that there isnt much rust on it too. Every other one I have seen onine is eat up with it. Interestingly enough I put the VIN in google and found this.http://www.motoexotica.com/inventory/18 ... rt_850.htm. That is evidently where the guy I got it from bought it.

Hello, and welcome to the forum. 52 HP! Hold on to your hat when you're driving out on the open road, away from the big, congested metropolis.
You did get lucky with the car, congratulations.

I'm guessing....$100 to haul it away for scrap? I know a guy here who gave a price of $50 sight unseen to haul out some''old car''.Found a intact 55 Chevy there. Not in great shape, but complete down to trim and glass.Sold it to a restorer for 3500!!

Yep $100. (runs out to fireproof my house). I had to restrain myself and do my happy dance after I got home. It needs a few things but is still a sharp little car. It has a few small dents and a couple of places where the paint has popped.

Anyone know where I can get an overflow bottle? Mine is cracked, but what do you expect on a 27 year old car?

I have thought about listing it for $5000 and seeing what kind of offers I get.
