I am a new member. I have a 76 Spider that I am getting ready to retro the bumpers with the 68-72 style ones that I bought on E-bay. The guy says someone will be able to tell me how to make brackets for them. I will also be needing turn signal lights to go in the bumper mounting holes if possible. Will send pictures as soon as I can. Thanks
Re: New Member
what to do with the turn signals is a hotly discussed item on nearly all Spider forums, this one included. seems there are as many solutions as there are folks willing to actually spend time and money.
Mark Allison, or moderator has a solution. give him a shout.

for the bumpermounts look on : http://www.spider-point.com/framework.php/mode/news
above is a bracket set , below you see how they are attached , the bumper comes a little higher than the <74' models , but that way it covers up the square holes
the brackets also include mounting harware to reuse your 76' indicators like in the foto shown below
this is an European dealer but he ships usa also , might want to check your domestic dealers maybe they sell the same ?

Well, here I go again on a new FIX UP, I wouldn't really call what I've done in the past a restoration. My first was a 1969 International Scout. I found it in a field and fell in love. Drove for 18 years after I rebuilt the top end and only had the voltage regulator go out one me when I attempted to jump some guy on the road (that does not sound right). Anyway, I have always wanted a Fiat Spider and now I have one - or what used to be one. I'm probably going to need a lot of help. Here's the first question right off. How to you get the rocker panels off? I see the screws but how do you get it off from the front and rear section of the car? I guess the fender wells. It has A LOT of undercoating on it which probably amounts to the lack of visible rust (yes I said VISIBLE). Anyway, please help.

Hello, welcome to the forum Don. You'll find this a great site. Lot's of fellow Fiat fanatics (to use an alliteration) with a willingness to share knowledge.

Sorry about posting in your place her DON. Good luck with that bumper conversion. I hope to hear about it more as I too like the look of the earlier model bumpers

Re: New Member
I've heard of people mounting early bumpers on compressed late mounts, but haven't done it myself. I really wanted to put early bumpers on my '82, but since my wife has to park on the street at work, I like the extra protection offered by the tube bumps.
