2nd antwerp classic

Post by Tappy »

This saturday we went on a tour with the spider , althus that was the plan , the weater was very nice and sunny but so it started out very well. The rest of the day didnt get that smooth , for starters we did'nt get across the starting line , one of the waterhoses exploded in front of the other competidors while we're waiting to start so that wasnt a good beginning @all. Luckely i had all the right tools in the trunk and 20 minutes later we did got started. It seemed like the gods didn't wanted us to drive out this ralley , the roadbook we got , wasn't compiled like i schould the first 20 pages went in backwards :( Never driven by a roadbook we were lost after 15 min , on top of that the car started overheating so we had to stop to let her cool down (probably an air lock due refilling here rapidly after the exploded hose) The service car did'nt find us for 30 min because we were'nt on the route we supposed to be (faulty roadbook) Anyway i got her back fixed so we could move on. The Service guy followd us to the first stop , we never got there , the stuttering problem i posted on before , has put his head back up. Seemed like the Electronic ignition module only worked for 15 min after it cooled down. At this point the car was beeing towed home. I quickly tried to install onother dizzy(non electronic) but didnt got the car back running.
Our first spring run with the fiat stopped here. We took out our daily driver (citroën pluriel) and finisched of the race with her. To bad we couldn't use the spider , because some laps on the local race circuit where part of the last chapter in the roadbook. But Hey we'll get there next time (i hope )

anyway here are some of the 170 competitors pictures :

Hey too bad about your mechanical problems, not to mention the routebook issues. That's a really nice cross section of vintage cars you have there. Your season is off to a nice start and it can only get better!

Crikey, sounds like a Chevy Chase movie. Too bad about the start of the year, but as mentioned, can only get better.

I believe the sixth car is a Kharmann Ghia by VW, with a modified Porsche nose. Look at the distinctive shape of the rear fender.

D'oh - I sure missed that one! We never saw that Alpine here, except in magazines. Very cool car. I actually met a guy in PA last year with a Kharmann Ghia on which he'd cut off the roof and installed a Porsche 356 front clip and motor, which looked similar.
