waterpump R&R
waterpump R&R
I need to replace the waterpump on my 2L today. Is this possible with the radiator in place? any things to watch out for, or is it pretty straight forward?

Re: waterpump R&R
Can be done with Radiator in place. Not a bad job. Couple of hours. Just remember that there is the pipe out the back, under the exhaust, that has 2 bolts that are part of the water pump. Even torque on all bolts.
Good lucks

on the other hand you need to let coolant of anyway and 2 bolts away from removing the radiator will give so some extra space ....

Thanks for the replies. I see here now it comes with a paper gasket. sealant on the gasket or just the bare paper gasket?

Use sealant! I just did mine, easy job, I didn't bother with the radiator, but drain the block. On mine I did run across the problem of one of the studs stripping out on me.

Re: waterpump R&R
I'd use permatex, with the exception of the heater pipe. If it's warped I'd use rtv there. Tap the bolt holes for the pump and use antiseize on the threads
