You can have any color you want as long as its not black
In a move that will likely get California’s consumers in a huff, impending legislation may soon restrict the paint color options for Golden State residents looking for their next new vehicle. The specific colors that are currently on the chopping block are all dark hues, with the worst offender seemingly the most innocuous color you could think of: Black. What could California possibly have against these colors, you ask? Apparently, the California Air Resources Board figures that the climate control systems of dark colored cars need to work harder than their lighter siblings – especially after sitting in the sun for a few hours.

Wow...you mean that darker colors are warmer than light? Who woulda thunk it! Probably spent millions in research to come up with this breaking news. The politicos in Cal. need to get a hobby, obviously they have way to much time on their hands.

with the new paint restrictions in LA County, I'm expecting we'll see cars with bare metal only. Plastic cars are in the future

At this point, nothing could surprise me in CA. Oregon is looking better all the time, too bad there are no jobs there.

Oregon isn't the answer either. I was just reading SEMA legislation updates, and Oregon has a new law that will prohibit any aftermarket parts from being sold if any green, energy efficient options become available for that particular part. Seems Calif doesn't have a monopoly on wacky policticians
Re: You can have any color you want as long as its not black
well, i like all of ya, and all that ... but don't get any bright ideas about moving to the "winter wonderland" any time soon. we're fighting for all too few jobs now.
unemployment is above 12% here, and that is just the reported unemployed. you are not counted in this number if your benefits have run out, and still do not have a job. You are not counted in this figure if you are earning any wage, even if it is only part time. i roughly figure that one in six Michigan residents are at least under employed, maybe as high as one in five. that is nearly 2,000,000 folks in this state alone!
all these problems, and the politicians have the TIME, ENERGY and AUDACITY to worry about paint colors? how about reversing the problems they have allowed to happen, like UNEMPLOYMENT, like RECESSION???

if you'd start spending some of those dollars you have stuffed in the mattress, some of the unemployed could go back to work

If I seemed a little grumpy in the last few days with my postings it's because of just what Mike and others have said ...

I will leave you saying that I like every last one of you and have enjoyed the readings of your adventures and appreciated all the help you have given me with my working on my car ..
I will maybe some day come back with another Spider ,,but right now , I cannot do it .. I will survive ,,just not as I have planned it ..Good luck to all of you ... LD

LD- That is one of the saddest things I have read in a long time. If there is anything that we can do let us know. Please stay on the forum and keep in touch, friend!
Re: You can have any color you want as long as its not black
Sorry to hear that LD. I hope the sale was to someone that you could eventually buy it back from when things turn around for you. You have provided a lot of fun for the Fiat community. Hope things will be fun again for you real soon.

LD, I'm so sorry for your circumstances. It seems this recession and our selfish elected officials are affecting us all. Please reconsider and keep visiting us or we'll have lost a great asset!
