Hello from Anaheim, California!
Hello from Anaheim, California!
Hi! just wanted to say hello. I'm probably one of the youngest guys on the this site (Just turned 20..no seriously) I was fortunate enough to be blessed with a red 78 spider which i had for 4 years but didn't officially own until 1 month ago. My dad just finally said "you talk of her like she's yours, might as well just keep her" (now if that would only work with actual women) shes a great car and a real attention grabber. the only problem is since the new law that passed in Cali (model 1975 and older exempt from smog only) I have been in a pickle since the PO removed the entire anti pollution system yeah..tell me about it..its going to be near impossible to get that back..well before i start telling you my life story ill quiet down and just say hello

Welcome aboard! I hope you're real nice to your Dad. When my sons were twenty, they made noises about wanting the car, but I just smiled! Maybe when I'm gone, they can fight over it. But you are so lucky - you get to solve all the car's problems for yourself! Have no fear, I predict that through the great guys on this forum, you will have a full smog kit before you know it.

Thanks for the welcome! I've been looking through the forums for a few days and it looks like there is a great group here. Very friendly and helpful. I'll have to put some photos of my spider up soon so you guys can see her.
Re: Hello from Anaheim, California!

Hello fellow Califonian! You're in a great area, we're just getting a SoCal chapter of FLU (Fiat/Lancia Unlimited) going. We get together frequently for socializing and drives. Hope you plan to join us, we could use another red Spider in the group. You're not too far from Mark Alison, our board moderator, who has a Fiat shop in Upland. He can help you get your car smog check ready.

Yeah! that sounds like it would be a blast! Wow Upland huh? thats not too far at all plus it would be nice to get to know some local Spider enthusiasts
Re: Hello from Anaheim, California!
welcome to the site and official Spider ownership! We've been hoarding emission equipment from out-of-state cars, so I'm sure I can help you get the car smog legal
Re: Hello from Anaheim, California!
Mark is truly the man for this job in SoCal.
He'll not only help you get it ready for smog, but help you put it right.. right after you pass.. lol
ie.. disable or remove all that crap that doesn't actually reduce emissions.
...and I am suspecting that your Dad made a wise choice in selecting a new owner for the Fiat... but, tell him the deal is off if he can't get it to pass smog... hehehe I'd like to read what his reaction was to that bomb shell!
Then tell him about Mark Allison in Upland, and that you were just kidding... and beg for the cash to get it done.
I saw the pictures! your car looks great!
but as Mark said on your pictures post... you have some work to do. You are going to need to remove the exhaust headers.
I have a stock pan air filter housing, and filter... if you need it, and for a couple of months I will literally be right up the road in Fullerton. You can borrow it to pass smog, or buy it. either way. I'll sell it for $20.00.
I look forward to seeing you and your car "with current tags" at the next event!
This next event may actually be the Muckenthaller car show in Fullerton in May, unless we do something fun sooner than that. I haven't posted details about the show yet. My invite letter is at my folks house in Fullerton.

Re: Hello from Anaheim, California!
Thats really good to know, I will definitely plan to drive up to upland and take her to mark soon. Just got to get the "look everyone I can't pass smog" club sticker from the dmv to put on the window also need to find out how much this is all going to cost so i can start stocking up on ramen noodles and saving my paychecks . yeah i'd love to see that look on my dad's face " " but theres probably a fat chance my pops will pay for the work considering he just gave me a car and its pretty much my responsibility now..got to love growing up...but it has its perks. yeah much appreciated! that air filter and housing would be a great idea since when i got her she never had one and it would be nice to have it. maybe even make it that much easier for mark but hearing how he's a master with Fiats i wouldn't see how it would make much of a difference on the job
