Full Tonneau Cover
Full Tonneau Cover
I just purchased a used full tonneau cover for my 82 Spider - - the previous owner wasn't sure what year it was made for - - and it doesn't quite fit right - - about 4-6 inches too short. It fits fine side-to-side, and the headrest "bump-outs" are perfect. The steering wheel "bump-out" is a little bit of a stretch but works. I'm going to do what I can to stretch the cover. So I ask what may be a stupid question. Has the distance from back to front of cockpit has been the same for all years - - or did they lengthen it out in later years?
If you are talking about the cover I think you are...I have one also. It seems as though it is just long enough to reach the front portion of the top of the dash??? Well mine does also, but this was an after market thing from my memory and you have to get some snap buttons on your dash and window to make it fit. At least I had to do that for mine. The location on the Pinninfarinas for the rear latch/connection are different from any other spider. Spiders up to 82 have a hook like connection to attach covers and hard tops. 83 thru 85 have a more button like connection. It still can hook, but looks more like a button and the location is a litle more towards the outside of the car than the pre-Pinnin models. In fact it lines up with the body line on the rear window valance panel and rear fender panel.
