Greetings from Finland
I bought my 79`Spider 2000 Automatic few weeks ago from Holland. As working with Brittish and German classics for many years i´m happy to get this beauty Italian Classic. I recon that Spider is very easy to make DIY repairs. My car only needs new oilpan and some minor repairs. It also seems that Spider is very easy car to get parts especially by Ebay. Do anybody knows how many Spiders were manufactured with automatic transmission ?.

Hello Beex, and Welcome!
I don't know the answer to your question, but Fiat made approximately 200,000 124 Spiders. Probably no more than 10,000 were automatics.
If you are replacing your oil pan due to damage, keep an eye on the oil pressure gauge, as it is common to break off the oil pickup with even minor damage to the front of the pan. We'll be glad to help you with other items on your new car; it always helps to tell us engine size, carb or FI, etc., as well as any modifications you know of, when asking technical questions.
Nice looking car! Hope you get some Springtime soon

Welcome to the group. That's a great looking car. It looks like you may need a hood emblem - they are available, although I believe not in the original enamel finish. Enjoy!

Peter, he has a Fiat hood ornament there, its a little obscure in the reflection, but its there. You can also get all of the Spider badges in enamel still.

Re: Greetings from Finland
Hello, and welcome to the forum. Your car is a twin to my first Spider, same year, same color combination. Except for the automatic tranny. We drove it on our homeymoon 28 years ago. Ahh, the memories.
Good looking car you have there.

Re: Greetings from Finland
Thanks to everybody of warm welcome. Some words about my Spider. It´s 79´124 Spider 2000 with carbs and GM t-150 automatic transmission. It´s imported from USA to Holland in 1991.Overall condition is very good and it comes to Finnish museum car age in the beginning of 2010. And the emblem is in it´s place....
