Nice Gas Smell

Post by blanchardkeith »

All of a sudden I smell more gas when I come to a stop. Looked at the gas lines and I don't see a leak. No drips anywhere. Could it just be the carb? Could the manual throttle have any effect on it?

well, houson... we have lift off.

could be any of those things, could not be as well.

check the steel line that runs under the carpeting against the rocker panel next to the driver's seat.

Make sure you are not developing pin holes in the bottom of the tank. Check for wet or dripping areas.

or

get a pine tree scented air freshener to hide the smell!

Check those fuel lines!I think you will find that is your problem. They are very thin metal and they rust-out especially right under the clutch pedal area since most of them have had standing water in that spot at one time or another.

Got a vanilla air freshener, it reminds me of surfboard wax........then found a gas line that attatches under the air cleaner had come undone...car still ran. Crazy. Hose clamp $.75! Cheapest fix I've done yet!
