valve spring compressor

Post by wengr »

Hello, what sort of valve spring compressor are you using for your 124 heads? is it correct to assume that an OHV type(kind of looks like a puller) will not work due to the dual valve springs?

International Auto Parts sells them, can't remember the price but it did work great when I did the valve clearances.

I plan to get one of those thing for the future, but now I mean while the head is off.

mine kind of sucks(craftsman). the frame wants to flex this way or that instead of staying straight and delivering suficient force.

I had a Crafstsman too and it was crap. I tried to use it on stiff springs on my 350 Chevy and it tweaked/bent. But that style is fine if you get a good one. http://www.centurytool.net/380_KD_Tools ... kdt380.htm

thanks for the link, that looks alot sturdier than the crapsman. As i'm cheap and rarely have a use for one I'm going to see about welding some bar stock to the frame.
