CYLINDER HEAD RESTORATION
Has anybody used IAP or Vic's to have their cylinder heads resurfaced? Any comments or suggestions? Any recomendations? Just pulled mine off my 2.0L and prefer to send it to someone with alot of Fiat experience.

Re: CYLINDER HEAD RESTORATION
I was unaware that Vick or IAP offered machine shop work. Every cylinder head I've seen from them is an "exchange" program; you don't get your head back, it goes into the "core" pile.
Having said that, I ended up paying almost as much at a local machine shop as the vendors finished price. If you don't have a good shop within driving distance, purchasing a complete unit from a Fiat expert makes sense.

Even though I'm in a different country, I couldn't agree more! I've seen cases where a generic engine shop has replaced all sorts of parts (e.g. replaced all the valve guides) quite unnecessarily and at great expense to the customer, plus, many generic shops have a habit of grinding the valve stem to set clearances, rather than obtaining the required shims.baltobernie wrote:Having said that, I ended up paying almost as much at a local machine shop as the vendors finished price.
