FI hose size

Post by wengr »

does anyone know the proper size for the fuel hoses that go from fuel rail to injector? I'm thinking 7mm or 7.5mm?

thanks for the reply. IAP says 7.5mm, and a few references to 7.5mm here in the archives, and now you are the second time I've heard 7mm. I wonder if cutting some off and taking it to the store would yield a close enough match. hypersensitive to it due to the pressure.

I found it easier to get 5/16" FI hose locally. Fits perfectly.

I'm probably too late, but I wouldn't use the 5/16". I used it on my rail, and it was OK initially, but a few days later sprung a leak while driving. I did cut the ends square, etc. but I think the stuff is just too loose to trust. 5/16" is a hair over 7.9mm. I bought some 7.5mm at the local Mercedes dealer for $18.00 per meter, cheaper than the 5/16" FI hose at Autozone, and the hose is better quality, it feels much more secure and safer and has held up well. I'm not using any clamps though, just pushing it on the barbs. Maybe if you used clamps the 5/16" would be OK but why do that?

I didn't use clamps, as far as I know if you use the original size hose, cut them the right length, etc. you can put it together the way it came from the factory, just push them on the barbs. No leaks in 400 miles anyway. Others please chime in if you think it's not safe, but mine feel tight and I can't pull them off.
